Description
A new profile and shape control system has been developed for use in hot strip mills at Wakayama Steel Works and Kashima Steel Works.<BR>The control system consists of variable crown(VC) rolls, work roll benders and work roll shifting devices on the last three stands of the finishing train. These devices can be preset so that the desired strip profile can be obtained. To achieve this, new mathematical models were developed which could be used to calculate the thermal roll crown, the roll wear, the VC roll profile and the strip profile. These models are considered to be suitable for use in online calculations.
