抄録

In order to clarify the behavior of pellets and sinters in the reduction and melting process in the blast furnace, some phenomena, such as the retardation of reduction at higher temperature, the exudation of FeO-containing slag and the meltdown, were investigated. The results obtained are as follows:<BR>1) Some kinds of burdens show strong retardation of reduction at higher temperature (1200°-1250°C).<BR>2) When a reduced sample is held at 1300°-1400°C during several minutes, the exudation of FeO-containing slag to its surface takes place.<BR>3) In the meltdown test, the meltdown behavior is different among various kinds of burdens according to the factors such as gangue volume and composition of burdens and the reducing conditions.
