抄録

This paper describes the adhesion of cutting tools at high temperature from the results of empirical cutting data and fundamental test with the adhesion between cutting tool tips and materials cut. The experiment for statical test of adhesion was carried out with the Vickers hot hardness testing machine. In consequence, we found that the critical temperature for adhesion was affected by the chemical composition of ceramics and kinds of metals, and that the strength of interface between metals and ceramic tips was weaker than in the case of carbides and this fact was recognized as a reason for that crater wear and built up edge for ceramics were less than those for carbides.
