抄録

The mechanism of generation of ground surface roughness is discussed analytically, when the grit profile curve and the grit distribution of the grinding wheel are generally given by arbitrary contineous functions. And the theoretical formulas of some characteristics of ground surface-maximum valley height of surface roughness, height distribution of scratches, mean width of scratch and ultimate roughness, which is obtained, when, for example, the work speed is zero-are introduced. Then, if the functions of grit profile and distribution are both represented by a power function, these formulas are able to be calculated easily. From the result, the influences of grit profile and grit distribution on the ground surface are clarified.
