抄録

This paper presents the proper mode of the pitching (bouncing) vibration of an automobile body, which is assumed as a rigid body supported on the two axies, front and rear, by the linear spring and viscous damping, namely the linear system having two degrees of freedom. The general application of the theory can been obtained by using a properly demensionless quantity. It is analytically shown how the pair of the proper modes of the vibration is changed, namely how each of the frequencies, damping factors and centers of the vibration is separated, according as respective centers of mass, elasticity and damping are independently shifted, and the ratio of the wheel base to the radius of inertia is changed. Moreover, the pair of the approximate frequencies, which is obtained on the assumption that a car body can bounce on an axis, front or rear, about the other axis as a hinge, is compared with the exact frequencies.
