Recently in the field of marine diesel engines, the demand for economical ones which could save fuel oil and lubricating oil consumption has exceedingly increased. To cope with these circumstances, we have been attacking to solve this problem on KAWASAKI-MAN two stroke diesel engines.<BR>As one solution for that, we developed a new timing cylinder lubricating system which had a simple construction without the necessity of any particular device for adjusting the oil supply timing.<BR>For the development of this system, various investigations such as experiments on a test engine, preliminary shop tests and onboard tests were carried out. As the results, it was confirmed that this system was extremely reliable having no parts subject to wear or damage and also it could give big economical effect on operating conditions.<BR>This paper presents the principle of this system and test data together with the running results obtained.
