抄録

Crystals of beryllium tri-aluminate were prepared by a flux method. Some gemological properties, such as density, refractive indices and hardness, of the beryllium tri-aluminate crystal are revealed to be very similar to those of the chrysoberyl crystal. Therefore, a possibility of discovery of a new gemstone is expected through closer examination of gemstones which have been previously classified as chrysoberyl. In order to distinguish these crystals, Laue photographs are the most recommendable means as a nondestructive identification method.
