Description
The Morphological structure of the medulla in various mammalian hairs was examined with a scanning electron microscope; and, based on the results obtained, the relationship between mammal classification and the medulla types of hairs was discussed.<BR>The medulla was classified into eight types on the basis of the wall shape bounding air spaces observed by the scanning electron microscope. It was also shown that the guard hairs of animals belonging to the same family share the same medulla type.
