Description
Sliding bearing tests were carried out to investigate the friction coefficient dependence on velocity and pressure. And the applicability for a new base-isolation system consisting of elastic sliding bearings and laminated rubber bearings is also investigated by dynamic response analyses taking account of friction coefficient dependence on velocity and pressure. From the experimental results, it is found that friction coefficient has peak value at about 15 kine and decreases as pressure increases. From the theoretical results, the response of base-isolated system is little affected by velocity and pressure. Furthermore, the response under vertical excitation of earthquake is also little affected.
