抄録

There are all types of Japanese mountain environmental problems in Mt.Fuji which is the mountain to represent Japan. The number of climber exceeds the level of environmental capacity and brings about (has arisen) various problems of mountain ecological problems. A focus of this paper is put on the problem of toilet accommodated by cottages on Mt. Fuji. A study of this is composed of the outcome of the hearing of owners of the cottages and their some experiments. The followings are the concluding remarks of this study:(1) Most of the owners want to improve their toilet.(2) There are only a few who follow the tipping system.(3) Although most of the owners are interested in the Bio-type toilet, they have no confidence in its operation.(4) The attitude of average climbers towards mountains ecology is getting worse with some differences of routes of climbing.(5) A portable-type toilet is usable within one or two days' lodging on mountains including Mt. Fuji.
