Description
Atheroma is a benign tumor of the skin that emits strong unpleasant odor during treatment. Therefore, we analyzed the contents of the tumor and investigated the possibility of reducing the odor using commercial deodorizers(A-C). As a result, the main characteristic odor components were lower fatty acids(FAs), mercaptan and indole. On chemical deodorizing tests of these odor components, deodorizer B, which contained green tea extract and amphoteric detergent, showed very high effects on FAs, but limited effect on mercaptan. However, on sensory test using a model of atheroma odor(a mixture of FAs, mercaptan and indole), deodorizer B had an excellent effect. Therefore, it was suggested that the effect of deodorizer B was due to 1) chemical deodorizing effect for FAs, and 2) significant sensory deodorizing effect for mercaptan.
