The influence of administered estrogen upon hatchability and viability in quail were examined. The results obtained were as follows: 1) Significantly low rates of hatchability were obtained in the groups administered with 0.1mg, 0.2mg, 0.3mg and 0.4mg estradiol benzoate (E. B.). 2) The sex ratio of the chick just after hatch was biased against 1:1 by the treatment of high doses of E. B. which caused more frequent death of female embryos. 3) Significant difference was observed in the mortality of the chick between control and estrogen administered groups. By the treatment with 0.4mg E. B., all of the chicks showed an early juvenile death. The chicks which received high doses of estrogen died within 5 days after hatch.
