Abstract

In order to study the common antigens between the red blood cells of sheep and those of other animals, the present experiments were performed by agglutination tests of the red blood cells of sheep, goat, cattle, rabbit, pig, horse and guinea pig against the antisera taken from the fowls immunized with the red blood cells of sheep, goat and cattle, respectively; and by absorption tests with the red blood cells of various kinds of animals. The results obtained were as follows:
1) By the analysis with anti-sheep red blood cell, the antigen of the red blood cell of sheep is composed of Sg, Sc, Sr, Sp, Sh and Sgp partial-antigens in addition to the mammal common antigens and the species-specific-antigens.
2) Also by the tests with anti-goat red blood cell and anti-cattle red blood cell, the red blood cell of sheep has partial-antigens of Sg and Sc.
3) The composition of antigens of red blood cells of sheep, goat and cattle has common antigens of the red blood cells of sheep, goat and cattle in addition to the species-specific-antigens, respectively. But the compositions of antigens of red blood cells of sheep and goat has closer relations than those of red blood cells of sheep and cattle, goat and cattle.
