抄録

Reliming period for pigskin leather manufacture can be shortened from 10 days to 2 days without affecting the leather softness, if an increased amount (80PU/g) of an enzyme is used in bating. This is explained as a effect of the enzyme helping skin fibers to open up, the space between leather fibers to expand and the leather to absorb fat-liquoring agent. Th enzyme had no effect of softening in case it was used in soaking. The use of a surfactant in liming and reliming had only a small effect in respect to the softening of pigskin leather.
