説明

Six finishing pigs (Landrace×Hampshire) were used to determine the effect of dietary lysine levels of 13.35% protein corn-sesame meal diets containing 3, 442 kcal digestible energy per kilogram on performance and certain carcass characteristics. Levels of 0.42 and 0.74% dietary lysine were studied. Average daily gain and feed conversion during the first 42 days on test, were higher when fed 0.74% lysine than on 0.42% lysine. Carcass length, dressing percent or backfat thickness were not significantly affected by dietary lysine levels. Likewise, liver, kidney and spleen weight/body weight of pigs fed 0.74% lysine diet, did not differ significantly from those of pigs fed 0.42% lysine diet. Dietary lysine levels had significant effect on mean loin-eye at the 5th and 10th ribs. Lean and fat contents of forequarter or middlequarter were not significantly affected by dietary lysine levels. However, fat content of hindquarter was significantly decreased and lean content significantly increased when finishing pigs fed 0.74% lysine diet. Water concentration of the longissimus muscle was hardly affected by the treatment, but marked changes in those protein and fat concentration occurred when 0.74% lysine diet was fed.
