抄録

The theory for predicting the effects of repeated selection for one trait was extended to estimate the effects of repeated index selection in a closed population. Using the extended theory, the effects of repeated index selection were estimated.<br>1. The response curve of the population mean is an asymptotic curve towards the selection limit. The genetic variance decreased with increasing generations of index selection.<br>2. All the different levels of initial genetic correlations between traits which are involved in a selection index decreased towards -1.0 with increasing generations of index selection. This result is different from the result obtained in a previous study on selection for one trait.<br>For further improvement of this theory, one of the most important problems to be studied in future is the effects of mating in selected parents on genetic properties of their progeny.
