2005年, 小笠原諸島の父島および母島においてフタテンミドリヒメヨコバイ Amrasca biguttula (Ishida, 1913) の初発生と, ハイビスカス, オクラおよびナスへの寄生による被害 (葉の萎縮症状) を確認し, 本種の終齢幼虫の接種試験により症状が再現された。トマトでの寄生は確認されなかった。本種は近年小笠原諸島に侵入したと考えられるが, 現在では父島および母島において広い範囲に分布を広げていることが明らかになった。
