説明

A study was conducted to evaluate the effects of the addition of different concentrations of clenbuterol (beta adrenergic agonist) to the diet of rats, on their growth, carcass composition, nutrient digestibility and energy and nitrogen utilizations. The study consisted of a 28-day growth experiment in which a 7-day (day 21-28) digestion trial was conducted. The rats were then killed and their carcass compositions were determined. The body weight gain of the rats fed with 0.1ppm and 0.2ppm clenbuterol were heavier while those fed with 0.01ppm were lighter than that of the control group. The differences were, however, not significant (P>0.05). Rats which were fed for the first three weeks with a diet containing 0.1ppm clenbuterol and then changed to a diet without clenbuterol on the last week of the experiment were initially heavier, but their body weight later decreased and fell below that of the control group. The data of carcass analysis indicated that the addition of 0.1ppm and 0.2ppm clenbuterol produced less fat (12-18%) but more nitrogen (5%) in the body than that in the control group (P<0.05). The weights of the internal organs, blood compositions and the results of the histological analysis of the liver and adrenal glands were not affected by the addition of clenbuterol. The addition of clenbuterol did not significantly affect the efficiency of ME utilization, but increased the nitrogen utilization of rats in the 0.1ppm and 0.2ppm groups by 8 to 12% (significantly different from the control at P<0.05).
