Description
The Nc-mutant gene and E pseudoalleles of Bombyx mori correspond to the Antennapedia and bithorax complexes of Drosophila melanogaster, respectively. The arrangement of the Nc-mutant gene and three mutant genes, ECw, EKp and EMu, belonging to the E-pseudoallelic genes located on the sixth-linkage group, was investigated by genetic analysis. It indicated that the arrangement of the four mutant genes is in the order of EMu-EKp-ECw-Nc from the proximal side of the sixth-linkage group, and genetic distances between adjacent loci were calculated to be 0.72 centimorgans (cM) between EMu and EKp, 0.57cM between EKp and ECw, and 2.20cM between ECw and Nc. The order of these genes on the chromosome corresponds to the order of segments in which each mutant gene primarily expresses the mutant characteristics along the anteroposterior axis, in a similar way to those of Drosophila melanogaster and Tribolium astaneum.<br>
