The problem of free surface potential flow around a ship in shallow water is subjected to linearized form of free surface condition and kinematic conditions on the body and bottom surface. The solution is obtained by replacing the hull, free surface and sea bottom with a distribution of sources and dipoles. The surfaces are discritized into flat quadrilateral elements and the influence coefficients are calculated using Morino’s analytical formula. The free surface boundary condition is linearized by the systematic method of perturbation in terms of a small parameter. The sinkage and trim effects are also considered in the present case. A verification of the numerical modeling is made using Wigley hull and the validity of the computer program is examined by comparing the details of wave profile and wave-making resistance with Inuid S-201 model.
