Description

The hydraulic bursting tests for PVC sheets applied at a seepage control structure in a coastal confined waste disposal site were conducted to evaluate the deformation and strength characteristics of sheets laid on an empty space. In the test, two types of hydraulic pressure vessels which have different radii were used, and we found that the maximum and breaking pressures varied with the vessels. This result means that the pressure-displacement curve has a tendency of scaling effect. On the contrary, the relationship between stress which was calculated along the attachment and strain has little effect of scaling, and the stress-strain curve at the vertical point of ballooning sheet was independent with the vessels
