Abstract

A web-based teacher training system, which was named "TRAIN", was developed for improving teaching skills of school teachers by using ICT. In "TRAIN", 218 brief video contents intended to be helpful to the improvement of teachers' teaching skills and the promotion of use of ICT at schools can be watched on Internet for training. To help efficient use of video contents, a handbook was prepared. In the handbook, the subject, description, screenshot and lecturer of each video are described in half an A4 page. Expository texts of 50 video contents are provided to enhance support of self professional development, OJT and Off-JT of teachers by using "TRAIN". Web pages of teaching cases and situations relevant to the video content are collected and provided in "TRAIN". Furthermore, 234 FAQs of teaching skills of school teachers by using ICT, which can be used for training, are provided. A study on evaluation of "TRAIN" by supervisors of education board was performed.
