Abstract

In this paper, the industry and university collaborations in Indian universities and Indian companies, including Japanese-Indian ones, are discussed, focusing on the automotive industry. Technical needs raised from industry are also investigated. Various stages of the collaboration are classified as three stages, such as initial, development and advanced stages, and the progress of the collaboration in Indian universities and industry is analyzed. Auto companies and their suppliers expect advanced technologies of the university, as their technical levels are being increased for aiming to produce the world level products. Universities are trying to well collaborate with industry by preparing their collaboration systems, also cultivating capability of the research level together with education. Present collaboration stage is classified as development stage for both university and industry.<br>
