Abstract

It has been reported that road subsidence causes the ‘cavity area’ and ‘loosening area’ growth due to water-inflow and drainage from defected sewerage pipe. Therefore, authors have tried to find out the significant factors of this soil behavior. This paper is a study of model test using the X-rays CT to evaluate mechanism of these areas growth. The objective in this study the relationship soil behavior and the condition of defective part in sewerage and condition of water-inflow and drainage is investigated. Here, the model test simulated to the cyclic water-inflow and drainage from defected sewerage pipe was performed using X-ray CT, and the method of definition of ‘cavity area’ and ‘loosening area’ from result of scanning X-ray CT was improved. Hence, the mechanism of soil behavior was evaluated by observing shape and a scale of these areas.
