Investigation was made on the effect Futon-mat compression study for radiographic double contrast method of the gastric anterior wall of transverse stomach.<BR>60 transverse stomach were employed for the study which were found at direct radiography of upper gastrointestinal series.<BR>The reduction rate from transverse stomach to standard stomach by utilizing Futon-mat compression was evaluated concerning the thickness and position of the Futon-mat.<BR>And in double contrast method of the gastric anterior wall, positioning and picture range on X-ray film were comparatively studied between the two groups with and without Futon-mat compression.<BR>It is concluded that manual reduction from transverse to standard stomach was best made by thick Futon-mat compression at the lesser curvature area of the gastric corpus.<BR>Thus, proper radiographic double contrast method of the gastric anterior wall is able to be performed even in the case with transverse stomach.
