A 10 Years Passed Case of Eichner Classification B3 with Severe Periodontal Diseases

Description

Patient: A 64-year-old female complained of masticatory disturbance by tooth mobility. Occlusal support area was only one part existed on between left first premolar. The case was classified to Eichner classification B3. Oral hygiene had been poor condition and deep periodontal pockets had remained. After periodontal treatment, recovery of function was attained by removable partial denture with concept of rigid support. <br>Discussion: In spite of severe periodontal diseases, long term good prognosis over 10 years after prosthetic treatment has been maintained. It was suggested that not excessive biting force of the patient and the periodic aftercare were effective for the excellent prognosis.<br>Conclusion: Concerning case of Eichner classification B3 with sever periodontal diseases, the recovery of function using removable partial denture with concept of rigid support has brought good prognosis.
