Description
Free vibration analysis of extended Timoshenko beams considering secondary shear deformation due to warping torsion has hardly been investigated. In this paper, the exact solutions of this problem are obtained analytically, and hierarchical and Hermite beam elements with C0 and C1 continuity, respectively, are formulated with the extended Timoshenko theory. The effects of shear deformation are clarified for Timoshenko beams by analytical method and examined for frames by numerical calculations with p- and h-versions using the each element.
