Abstract
Identification of unsteady aerodynamic forces of bridge deck using free-vibration technique has two problems: the uniqueness of flutter derivatives as functions of frequency and assumption of sinusoidal oscillation. This paper discussed identification of unsteady aerodynamic forces based on finite state approximate formulation, that gives aerodynamic forces based on general oscillation and whose parameters don't depend on the frequency. The determination of the parameters in the finite state approximation of unsteady aerodynamic forces is formulated as an optimization problem. The results of numerical simulation with two objective functions show that modal information and flutter derivatives can be estimated accurately, while the stability of parameter identification varies with objective functions.
