Author's recent studies introducing 2-bromo-2-cyano-N, N-dimethylacetamide (BCDA) as a new brominating agent are reviewed. BCDA is an effective and high selective agent for the α-bromination of ketones in the side favorable to enolization. Its versatility is described in comparison with the other brominating agents.
