Colonoscopy and endoscopic ultrasonography have improved the diagnosis of submucosal tumors of the large intestine. Nowadays their importance in the diagnosis of such tumors is often stated, whereas it is said to be difficult to diagnose a submucosal tumor by computed tomography (CT). We have demonstrated with existence and content of a submucosal tumor of the transverse colon by CT after filling the transverse colon with warm water. A CT scan can give us an objective image without the patient's pain, so we may say this is a beneficial examination.
