Description
We experienced a resected case of uncommon bar-like shaped leiomyosarcoma of the stomach presenting with massive hematemesis following an operation for a left breast cancer. A 65-year-old woman, who had been followed up on an ambulant basis after the operation for the breast cancer, vomitted a large amount of blood after a supper and was seen at the hospital as emergency case. Emergency gastrointestinal fiber scopy revealed an unusual shaped submucosal tumor on the anterior wall in the C resion of the stomach, when the bleeding had already stopped but ulcers at the top of the tumor and strong inflammatory findings around it was observed. Since no other bleeding site was found out, the bleeding might occur from dease ulcers. A partial gastrectomy was performed to remove the tumor with enough margin of the normal tissues. The tumor had an uncommon shape which looked like a bar and it grew into the inside of the stomach. It was 27×21×58mm in size. The pathological findings showed that the tumor was leiomyosarcoma of the stomach. We report this uncommon case of leiomyosarcoma of the stomach on account of its unusual shape.
