Description
X-band marine radar measurements of spatio-temporal variations of morphology around artificial headlands were conducted along a well-developed 16-km-long sandy beach from 2010 to 2013. The radar images were analyzed using the Empirical Orthogonal Function (EOF) method to identify shoreline variability around the headlands. The derived morphology was correlated with incident wave conditions and surfzone extensions. Long term shoreline variations were also estimated from aerial photos and aerial laser survey and are compared with the results of the radar observations with respect to the surfzone extension.
