This paper proposes a "Bus System of the Area" course at elementary and middle schools, as a mobility management program in primary education, and reports its effects, lessons, and issues learned from the study.<br>The course was offered to 6th and 7th graders at an elementary and a middle school in Fuji City. Students learned the role and importance of mass transit through hands-on sessions and lectures by transportation and other professionals. They developed their own plans for the bus system of the area at the end. In the program, students have developed understanding on the role and importance of public transport system, sense of participation and cooperation in public transport system development as a whole.<br>The study provides important lessons, suggestions, and issues as to how planners should communicate with teachers, and cooperate with the administration.
