This paper explores the impact of the poverty problem that is related to the migration form rural area to cities. Children's learning condition depends on drastic change of family lives, community, and the school. After they become street children (SC), NGO agencies try to support them in many ways. In this research, I focus on the use of the Nonformal Education Program (NFE), for example, Street Educator Program and Street Children School.
Research data were collected by interviews fifteen of street children, six NGO staffs in 3 places of NGOs in Thailand, Phuket, Chaing Mai, and Khon Kean.
Findings are as follows:
First, to decrease the education gap of SC and support their well-being, NGOs plan many programs to help them with each SC situation and their living place situation. And most of the SC participated in NGO programs by using the personal relation between NGO staffs and SC. Second, the role of NFE for SC, after they participated in NFE, SC improved their literacy and life skills, and the occupation training program, but they were not successful. Third, the activity of NGOs in NFE can solve the problems of street children. But NGOs are limited in authority and budget, so NFE for SC cannot act only NGOs, but the partnership to support their activity is important.
