Abstract
In contemporary Japan, the sexual consciousness of the young people has been changing. Some adults think these changes are a disorder, and concerned about it. But, if we want to understand the young people more practically, we do not have to think these changes are the mere disorder.
In this paper, we focus on the view of menstruation and ejaculation of junior high and high school students. And we consider about the cultural context. These students who enter puberty go through many changes with their body and their human relationship. The cultural influence opens up more clearly around the view of menstruation and ejaculation. The preceding study paid less attention to ejaculation than menstruation. We think the findings of this paper are important.
We investigated about this issue in the cities of Hokkaido. The findings are following. (1) The image of ejaculation is thinner than menstruation. (2) There are the possibilities that the knot of menstruation/ejaculation with reproduction is vague. (3) Ejaculation accompanies with the sense of shame and/or guilt. And (4) ejaculation experience is more difficult to talk publicly than menstruation experience. We suggested following as the cultural contexts. (1) Sexual desire is taboo; especially children were banned the access to sexual things. (2) Female bodies regard as special things, and they need special cares. On the contrary, male bodies regard as ordinary things, and they do not need special care. (3)Female bodies have the stronger connection with reproduction than male bodies. And (4)Sexual desire mainly are depicted as pornography. Ejaculation is deeply related with sexual desire, so talking about ejaculation at public space is difficult for us.
