Description

Butyric, hexanoic, octanoic, decanoic, and lauric acids were formed by the peroxide-induced addiion of acetic acid to ethylene in which ethylene and di-t-butyl peroxide were feeded into acetic acid continuously. 2-Ethylbutyric, and 2-ethyloctanoic acids, and neutral substances were also formed.<BR>Major neutral substances formed were assumed to be dibutyl and di(2-ethylhexyl) phthalates, and 3, 4-dibutyl-, 3-butyl-4-hexyl-, and 3, 4-dihexyl-2, 5-oxolanediones.
