Six terpenyl hydroxyethyl ethers (terpenyl-HEE) [isobornyl-HEE [10], 1-β-fenchyl-HEE [12], n-bornyl-HEE [14], α-terpinyl-HEE [16], myrcenyl-HEE [18] and dihydro-myrcenyl-HEE [20]] and six terpenyl hydroxypropyl ethers (terpenyl-HPE) [isobornyl-HPE [11], 1-β-fenchyl-HPE [13], n-bornyl-HPE [15], α-terpinyl-HPE [17], myrcenyl-HPE [19] and dihydromyrcenyl-HPE [21]] were prepared by the reaction of camphene [1], tricyclene [2], 2-pinene [3], 2 (10) -pinene [4], 1, 8-p-menthadiene [5], myrcene [6] or dihydromyrcene [7] with ethylene glycol [8] or propylene glycol [9] in the presence of cation exchange resin at 50°±2°C.<BR>These structures were confirmed by physical constants, MS, IR and NMR spectra.
