Abstract

It has been established that hemodialysis(HD)patients have a higher incidence of peripheral arterial disease(PAD)and foot ulceration. Many HD patients with foot complications are left without appropriate remedy or foot care for their ulcers. In this article the management of foot complications in HD patients((1)common category(e.g., tinea pedis, tylosis and fissure)and(2)rare, but important category(e.g., Blue toe syndrome and calciphylaxis)has been summarized from the viewpoint of dermatologists. Daily observation of the patient’s feet and hospital-clinic-home cooperation is crucial for intensive foot care management in HD patients.
