Abstract

Japan is one of the earthquake-prone countries, and has suffered from various earthquakes such as the Great East Japan Earthquake in 2011. Therefore, high seismic performance for buildings has been required, and seismic technologies have been actively studied in Japan. Seismic isolation system that isolates a superstructure from the ground is one of the effective earthquake-resistant technologies. The number of seismic isolated structure is overwhelmingly small compared with the ordinary earthquake-resistant structure, though it has increased after the Kobe Earthquake in 1995. Thus, in order to comprehend actual behavior of isolated structures during earthquakes and to improve seismic safety, it is important to obtain seismic records of the structures. Therefore this study dealt with seismic records of isolated structure that is a building of Tokyo Denki University and construction of an analytical model of the isolated structure based on the seismic records. The seismic record was started from December 2011. In this paper, relationships between the intensity of the seismic ground motion and the natural frequency of the building were investigated by using observed seismic records. In addition, an analytical model for seismic response analysis was constructed by considering the relationships. After that, reproducibility of the analytical model was evaluated by comparison between seismic records and analytical results by using the analytical model.
