The measurements on heat of hydration and the observations of hydration process by microscopic picture have clarified the following points: the concrete with large water cement ratio (w/c) promoted the hydration up to the age 91 days, having a small increase of strength while the one with small water Cement ratio (w/c) contained a lot of unhydrated cement, having a large increase of strength at a long age.<br>The auther investigated that the durability of concrete is substantially affected by such factors as water cementratio (w/c) and amount of entrained air, explained the phenomenon by his theory of freezable water air ratio (F.W/A) and clarified theoretically the cause of decrease of durability.
