Description

Among various problems connected with the manufacture of precipitated calcium carbanate, study was made chiefly on the influence of carbonation on the size, shape and distribution of particles.
It was discovered that various particles such as colloidal calcium carbonate of 0.05 IL diameter, spindle, needle or pillar shaped ones can be obtainable by various combinations of calcium hydroxide solution of different concentration, the introduction of different volume of carbon dioxide, different reaction temperature and different mixing velocity.
Active calcium carbonate was obtained through the surface treatment of colloidal calcium carbonate by sodium stearate and again through the process by sodium glutaminate and solbic acid.
The Activation Constant of various calcium carbonate of different size, shape and surface activity was calculated from their resultant viscosity when loaded with S. B. R.
It was discovered that activation constant on rubber is almost entirely influenced by the fineness of particles rather than by shape factor or surface activity.
Moreover, some studies were made on the methods of measuring the diameter of particles.
