Abstract
Satomi Tunnel is one of the long tunnels with the 2, 493m length for the Hokuriku Shin-kansen project under construction by Japan Railway Construction Public Corporaition (JRCC). The construction of Satomi Tunnel introduces the roadheader for the full-face excavation and multi-functional gantry-jumbo for the improvementsin the safety and working condition by the centralization of the working spots using the mini- bench method in the soft rock.<BR>The paper reports about the construction data of the mechanical excavation and deformation patterns of the tunnel based upon the obsevation.
