Abstract
In this research, we investigate the difference in sound and form between the Russian jew's harp called "Khomus" and the Italian jew's harp called "Marranzanu". We tried to compare the two jew's harps from the perspective of form features, acoustic features and cultural features. As a result, we found signature differences in the treatments of their edge processing.<br>In addition, we found some characteristic differences of frequency structures by the Autocorrelation Function (AFC) and the Fast Fourier Transform (FFT). We focused on the structure of frequency components of the jew's harp's sound. From the comparison we found that one side has an odd-harmonic, and another has an integral-harmonic. In conclusion, it's fair to assume that the cultural background of the jew's harp has affected aspects of its form and sound.
