Abstract
The safety sign in a working site plays an important role of measures in dealing with disaster and make use of the various scenes. But the color scheme (color of the figure, color of the frame, color of the ground) of safety sign has not yet been determined. In this study six kinds of safety sign were taken up, and the relationship between their color scheme and recognition evaluation was examined. The result showed that the effectiveness of the color scheme exerted influences of the evaluation of the safety signs to show discrimination and appropriateness. It was proven that the color scheme (figure color, Black/ frame color, Black/ ground color, Yellow) was suitable for having the sign recognized to be more discrimination. Moreover, when the color scheme for appropriateness is chosen, the intended purposes such as prohibition, warning or indication should be considered. The results indicate that it is better to use the color scheme (Black/Red/White) as the prohibition marks, (Black/Black/Yellow) as the warning marks, (Black/Black/Yellow or Black/Green/white) as the indication marks.
