Description
With the globalization of markets and development environments, product development processes have quickly become more complex and larger in scale. To some extent, creating innovative products requires iterative development. However, this approach inevitably involves various rework in design, which undermines work efficiency. Especially in later stages of design, significant rework may have a negative impact by delaying product launches, wasting development resources, or adversely affecting design quality. In the present study, an efficient design process with minimal rework was sought through a visual representation of the flow of information.Specifically, the proposed approach consists of both positive and negative analyses to streamline design work. In the former, the sequence and structure of tasks necessary to make progress are analyzed, and in the latter, tasks with a high probability of impeding progress are identified. The authors applied the approach in actual design development to verify its effectiveness.
