This paper seeks to explore the social and cultural val-ues of Qinhuai Lantern-a renowned lantern in Nanjing, China-through an in-depth study of local living depicted in the relevant ancient paintings and literature. The conclusions can be summarized as follows (1) Qinhuai Lantern has enhanced interpersonal relationships; (2) Qi-nhuai Lantern has exhibited a harmonious human-nature relationship; (3) Qinhuai Lantern was widely used for varying daily life purposes, such as advertising, indicat-ing one's identity; (4) Qinhuai Lantern was also employed in hare or unconventional occasions; <br>To be concluded, Qinhuai Lantern has reflected local people's varied life philosophies, such as their views on life, ethics and living harmoniously with nature.
