Impression of fashion drawing and the effect of deformation on it have not been urgued quantitatively but qualitatively. The purpose of this study is to evaluate them quantitatively. In this first paper, the main components of anthropomentric proportion to be deformed and their interaction were assigned to L_<16>(2^<15>) orthogonal array table and also the experiment of visual reaction was conducted. As the results, the total variation of visual reaction was decomposed into 4 terms: linear term (main effect), a part of non-linear term (interaction effect), the other non-linear term (error of experiments) and observer's error of reaction. And the contribution of effects on four pairs of adjectives such as "stylish vs. not stylish" are calculated. Consequently, the observer's visual reaction to fashion drawing is expressed by the linear combinations of variation of main components of anthropometric propotion. Further more, the effective components to visual reaction in each pair of adjectives become clear and these are found to be important to impression of fashion drawing and the effects of deformation.
