Abstract
On Oct. 24, 1986, the author with co-operative research successfully transmitted detailed color images between Tokyo and Osaka using total scanners, communication units, modems etc, via NTT's telephone network. Using the system, author with co-worker selected three pieces from among about 2,000 sheets 35mm color reversal films and made a single superimposed image from them based on our original design idea. In Osaka, we performed design work inclusing layout on the color display based on the design pattern sent from Tokyo. After the four design works have been made, they returned to Tokyo. In Tokyo, the four design works transmitted from Osaka via a telephone line were examined on the color display and output in form of mechanical printing proof. From these results, our experiment demonstrated the possibility of transmitting highly detailed color design image to any desired destination via NTT's telephone lines without incurring deterioration in the image quality.
