Description
16 Colored chips with high constant glossiness (Gs=91.2±0.5 at 45°) were obtained by coating a clear varnish over color papers. Color appearance of the gloss sample was determined by color matching method with standard 5510 color chips (5500 K, 1500lux., illuminated from -30°and monitored at 45°). Lightness of the gloss surface decreased and chromaticness increased by coating the varnish, although hue was not changed. Adding non-coated color chips, gloss sensations were measured by means of paired comparison. Although the gloss sensation in non-coated chips increases with increasing the lightness value, the gloss sensation in coated chips is inversely related with its lightness. Because a good linear relationship holds on plots of the gloss sensation of coated chip vs. a difference lightness between the non-coated and coated chips, it is strongly suggested that degree of gloss sensation is recognized after cognition of color sensation.
