Abstract

In the first paper, to glasp the aethetic concepts of young Korean and Japanese on the traditional crafts, the image structures of them were made clear by using the Factor Analysis. In the second paper, to make clear the difference of the image structures of both countries' people by the familiality of their native crafts, the traditional crafts were treated as separate groups of Korean ones and Japanese ones. In this paper, to make clear what kind of design elements are contributed to make the difference of image structure between both countries, the Quantification I Analysis is used. The analysis is centralized around "color" "material" "shape" "pattern" which are thought as the most important elements for design. From the results of this analysis, it can be said as follows. As for "color", Japanese response is remarkable on the category "color of material itself and an other". And also some differences are recognized between both countries with the responses on "colorful primary colors" "black and an other". As for "material", the differences are recognized with the responses on "metalic materials" : while Japanese respons as "artificial" and "gay", Korean respons as "light". As for "shape", in general, Japanese are more sensible than Korean. As for "pattern", Japanese put higher value than Korean on the small pattern.
